About Lisa de Jong

I am a menstruality coach and consultant helping women connect with the cyclical rhythms of their menstrual cycle.

For years I suffered with debilitating menstrual cramps to the point where I'd faint or have to dose up on very strong painkillers.

In my twenties, I had various jobs including working in IT for Google in Dublin, for RBS in London and then as a language teacher. I couldn't keep up with living that linear and very stressful life. I would often call in sick or have to hide in the bathroom, suffering alone with my period.

Then, at the age of 29 I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis.

I'd been on a few different contraceptive pills to help with the pain but I then experienced all sorts of harmful side effects. I decided to explore a more alternative route to healing and guess what? It worked!

I still experience some mild cramping from time to time, depending on how I look after myself that month but overall, my periods have become a time of rest and stillness. They are no longer something I fear and dread.

What did I do?

I became very interested in my diet and followed the wonderful work of Alisa Vitti, trying to eat in a way that nourished the cyclical nature of my hormones. I practiced a lot of gorgeous and juicy restorative yoga. I reduced my stress levels and improved my sleep, and, I received a lot of treatments in Maya massage therapy.

But most significantly, I discovered Menstrual Cycle Awareness -  the work of Red School with Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, which helped me discover and understand the energies and cyclical nature of my own cycle.

This is what I now base most of my life on from my self-care practice to my professional work and social life.

I'm interested in helping women connect with the cyclical nature of their menstrual cycle as a path to healing, balance, stress reduction, improved creativity and productivity and... to a more interesting and vibrant life!

I'm also interested in helping women who suffer with their cycles and are looking for healing, and with women who are busy working in business or self-employed and need more balance in their lives.
